Welcome to the Syracuse LWRP website. O.C. Speaks is your chance to express your ideas for the future of Onondaga Creek.
This site will be the primary community interface for the LWRP process, supporting and supplementing the public meetings. The team will provide project updates, ask questions, and post Case Study projects for discussion. Feel free to use this site as a medium to share your thoughts and ideas with others. You can share your comments about the posts, the meetings, share recent articles, give your preference for public to access the water, or maybe your general ideas for utilizing the creek waterfront as a significant Syracuse asset.

Waterfront Design Concept Selected at Kirk Park
Miner: Turning the Creek into an Asset for Our Community
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Mayor Stephanie A. Miner announced the City of Syracuse has selected the project concept for the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP). A series of public meetings were conducted during the past eight months to solicit input on potential project sites and design ideas. The selected concept will be constructed in Kirk Park.
“This proposal offers exciting opportunities to enhance the great public space we have along Onondaga Creek,” said Mayor Stephanie A. Miner. “This is a big step in the right direction for turning the Creek into an asset for our neighborhoods and acknowledging Syracuse as a waterfront community.”
The program goals are to provide public access opportunities along Onondaga Creek, strengthen connections with adjacent City neighborhoods, and improve environmental quality. After extensive public input, the City selected the “Outdoor Classroom” concept at Kirk Park.
The City intends to construct the Outdoor Classroom in Kirk Park this year. The project, estimated at $225,000, will receive full funding for the design and construction through the New York State Department of State Local Waterfront Revitalization Program. Funding for the construction of a second project will be sought next year.
